The icon to the left of the object name indicates the class of the object. For a document the icon identifies its MIME type (see section 3.3.1).

A folder, calendar or discussion may contain other objects. A folder, calendar or discussion may be turned into a shared workspace (see section 4.4 and section 4.5). In a folder (calendar, discussion) page the objects it contains are represented by entries in a standardized layout.

to display its content in a separate page or -- if the object is a Document that your Web browser cannot display-- to download the file.
